Looking back on my teens, I was bigger than my friends – an uncomfortable size 16. It was really no mystery why – I loved food, and the unhealthier the better.

Eating had become my comfort blanket when I was sad, and it brought me relief – usually in the form of a chocolate bar – when I was stressed.
