The morning of 7/7 2005 started like any other. My daughter, Aisling, 11, went to school while I had a conference call from home. I ran the London Underground engineering department and Mark worked for LU too. Then my phone started pinging with calls and messages. I raced into work. London was in chaos, and it was hard to believe what had happened.
After the horrific terrorist attack that day, Mark and I led the police to the bombed carriage and worked at the crime scene for days. What haunted me were the personal belongings people had taken with them that morning, now all that was left of their life. Struggling with post-traumatic stress, life felt meaningless and unfulfilling.
