Issie Inglis, who lives in the Scottish Highlands, is an emergency response volunteer for the British Red Cross. She also runs a digital publishing business, creating adventure travel guides for remote journeys around the world (world-adventure-guides.com).

I’ve always worked outdoors, whether it be orienteering, skiing, sailing or mountaineering. In 2008, I  joined the Red Cross swift water rescue team as a volunteer – I’d done some mountain rescue work previously, as well as water sports and first aid. When the swift water rescue team was disbanded after five years, I went into event first aid, and now I’ve moved to emergency response.
