I’ve always worked outdoors, whether it be orienteering, skiing, sailing or mountaineering. In 2008, I joined the Red Cross swift water rescue team as a volunteer – I’d done some mountain rescue work previously, as well as water sports and first aid. When the swift water rescue team was disbanded after five years, I went into event first aid, and now I’ve moved to emergency response.
