Hopeful is the star of the show

THE Holcombe Harriers won the supreme championship at Rydal with their beautiful tricoloured bitch Hopeful 18, whose star quality and presence made her stand out from the other champions to take the Bruce Logan trophy.

The four judges who have chosen their respective champions, in beagles, harriers, fellhounds and terriers, are asked to step aside so an independent judge, chosen by show chairman Claire Logan-Stephens, can adjudicate over the final class.

Claire works tirelessly in the organisation of the Rydal show and the trophy is in memory of her father, who was himself a former chairman of the Rydal show and a master of the Coniston Foxhounds.
