ENGLAND Lower Hyde Holiday Park, Isle of Wight
For a very well-kept site with excellent facilities, just 15 minutes’ walk from the seafront and with a restaurant, bar and even entertainment if we wanted it, I couldn’t believe the price. It was less than a tenner a night with electric when we visited in early October!
You could include a couple of kids in that price too, but then you’d probably never get out to explore this lovely island, because they’d want to be in the pool (outdoor pools, with slides, are seasonal), on the adventure playground, multi-sports area or joining in the entertainment.
If, like us, you’re simply after a pleasant site with nice views of the surrounding countryside and spotlessly clean facilities in a convenient location, then you’ll be pleased to know that the touring area is in an elevated position and feels quite separate from the rest of the site. In fact, it has its own office/reception for tourers, a pristine facilities block with keypad entry and separate rooms for visitors with mobility issues and young families, along with recycling and wasteemptying facilities.
Pitches are spacious and flat, with reinforcement mesh under grass and low-level lighting.
