Grow with the flow

Midway between the Canterbury township of Lincoln and the shores of Lake Ellesmere – Te Waihora – lies Streamside Organics, a 26-hectare market garden owned and run by Dominique Schacherer and Logan Kerr. While it’s barely 14 months since this young couple took ownership of Streamside, they’re no newcomers to market gardening. Over the previous eight years they earned their livelihood as organic market gardeners on a number of leasehold properties.

The two were classmates at Christchurch Rudolf Steiner School, then took separate paths after completing their studies. Six years later, after enrolling by chance in the same social enterprise training course, they discovered their mutual passion for sustainability, organics, and each other. Together they acquired skills, knowledge and the confidence to realise their dream.
