The stocks and funds to buy now

There are many ways to play gold and gold mining, depending on your appetite for risk. UK-listed exchange-traded funds include: iShares Gold Producers UCITS ETF (LSE: SPGP); VanEck Vectors Gold Miners UCITS ETF (LSE: GDGB); VanEck Vectors Junior Gold Miners UCITS (LSE: GJGB); and L&G Gold Mining UCITS ETF (LSE: AUCP). They have all fallen by 20%-25% in a year.

The main funds to look at are Ned Naylor-Leyland’s , which invests in gold and silver bullion as well as miners, and, perhaps best known of all, the managed by Evy Hambro and Tom Holl. The only UK-listed investment trust is , which trades at a 10% discount to its net asset value (NAV) of £50m.
