DURING the depths of winter, when we are starved of colour, hellebores save the day, providing beautiful flowers over a long period. Blooming in shades of red, pink, green, yellow and cream, as well as smouldering blacks and crisp whites, they brighten the garden from January to April and provide winter-foraging bees with much-needed nectar.
