From A to A

In a similar vein to the pick-up that graces the cover of this issue, Paul ‘Whitby Kustom’ Tookey’s Model A was never a path he planned to tread. Unlike Bob Haslett, he wasn’t even considering taking on someone else’s project. The common denominator is the deal that came along was just too good to pass up.

The additional twist in this tale, though, is that this was a finished car 15 years ago, just one that didn’t look anything like the finished one you see here.

The story began circa 2005 when British rodder, Ian Russell, was residing and working in the States. During a visit to Daytona, he chanced upon a ’32 Ford rolling chassis, its rails pinched to suit a Model A body, on the Kentucky-based Danny’s Rod Shop stand.
