Travel is slowly making a comeback in Australia. And while overseas jaunts to exotic fishing destinations is still off limits, exploring our own backyard is, and probably always has been, a preferred option.
Australia is blessed with quality fishing destinations, yet few compare to Western Australia, and in particular, the Kimberley.
After 18 months of cabin fever, finding a red hot fishing destination was high on the agenda and the Kimberley was the best cure.
INTO THE WILD
Few places on earth feel truly remote. Even the most isolated corners of the planet can be reached via a commercial plane with very little effort. I’ve travelled to some pretty remote places and most of them, surprisingly, still feel quite accessible. Maybe it’s the over population of remote islands or the floating litter that turns up practically everywhere.
The Kimberley in Western Australia is the exception. This area between Broome and the Northern Territory border has always been a difficult place to reach, and as such, a world class destination to fish. It feels isolated and that’s because it is. The Kimberley is full of remote islands, reefs, rivers and remote inlets and very few people call it home.
