Glimmer of hope for rare dove in the rainforests of northern Argentina

THE DISCOVERY OF videos and sound recordings relating to a Critically Endangered species in South America has given scientists new hope of finding remaining birds in the wild.

Loss and fragmentation of) habitat in the Atlantic rainforest has led to the species being listed as Critically Endangered since 1994. While there have been occasional reports of the species over the years, including a recent sighting in 2017, there are no published photographs or sound recordings of the birds in the wild.
