The moult: it’s a great time!

WELL, the season has drawn to a slow end for the canaries. At the time of writing this, our birds are pretty much finishing the last few nests. We’ve taken a final round with the Norwich, since the hens looked as fit as they were at the start of the breeding season. A few feeders are now sitting those eggs, so fingers crossed for a late flourish.

We moult our young Fifes out in flight cages, as we have the space to keep them that way. There are pluses and minuses to this. The plus side includes very low maintenance. We feed, water, clean and watch the moult unfold. It’s a very easy way to allow your
