FEEDING GARDEN BIRDS in winter doesn’t lead to an increased dependence on human-provided food, finds new research by the Oregon State University (OSU) in the USA.
Jim Rivers, an animal ecologist with the OSU College of Forestry,) that were fitted with radio-frequency identification tags. They found that the birds did not increase their visit rate, nor did they increase their reliance on supplemental feed, during a period when they might have benefited from it the most.
