I want to embrace the uncontrollability of nature

Land artist and floral sculptor Paul Malget launched his practice La Famille three years ago from his home in West Sussex. Inspired by the work of sculptors Andy Goldsworthy and Barbara Hepworth, as well as gardener Christopher Lloyd – ‘his view was: take risks’ – Paul abandoned the formality of traditional floral design and adopted an ‘imperfect’ method of creating botanical works using foliage and other found materials. In 2018, La Famille was commissioned by RHS Chelsea to create the flower show’s unusual tunnel installation, and La Famille also hosts regular workshops in floral design embracing the Japanese philosophies of wabi-sabi and ikebana.
