FASTEST KNOWN TIMES OF THE YEAR
Fastest Known Times (FKT) can easily be undertaken while maintaining a distance of six feet (or six miles, in some cases). Not only can runners skip the hassle of lotteries for the privilege of entering a race, but there isn’t even an entry fee. You can try for an FKT whenever you want, wherever you want and if the weather is bad, you just have to wait until the next day.
Runners took advantage of this opportunity and threw down 4,452 FKTs in 2020, a massive 438% increase over the previous year. From Malaysia (5) to Sweden (118) and California (330) to Connecticut (263), thousands of people recreated safely within the parameters of a global pandemic and not only maintained their fitness, but had the time of their lives. Quite literally.
