Planning the perfect picnic

PICNIC FOOD, and indeed picnics themselves, may vary considerably – ranging from the all-out wicker basket with checked travel rug affairs to the more basic sandwich and a piece of fruit in your pocket, eaten overlooking a favourite beauty spot.

Whichever it is, picnics can sometimes become just ‘carbohydrate fests’ and not the healthiest of meals. Obviously if your picnic is a spur-of-the-moment idea, not a lot of planning will take place, but with just a little forethought, a picnic can become a veritable box of delights.
