My head leaned heavily against the window of a teammate’s car as he drove several of us back to campus after another sweltering South Carolina afternoon cross country practice. Piling out of the vehicle, someone pointed to where my head had just been. The sticky air had combined with my greasy, sweaty hair to leave an oily, undoubtedly diet-induced smudge on the glass. “$#@!ing Grilled Cheese Head!” echoed across the parking lot as laughter erupted. The nickname stuck around longer than the smudge.
