s summer heats up and the pandemic winds down, many ultrarunners are eager to put in some big miles of training in preparation for the backlog of events. We will stack up big training weekends, cajole our training partners into just a few more miles and maybe even set the alarm clock a few hours earlier. While maybe not the best training practice in the world, it’s not uncommon to see athletes take a 30-50% increase in their weekly training volume for periods of time as the summer season rounds the corner.
