ABritish Army lieutenant general named Robert Baden-Powell—born Feb. 22, 1857—was the founder of the scouting movement in the early 20th century. His original Scout Law appeared in the 1908 publication Scouting for Boys.
After visiting London in 1909, where a scout guided him through dense fog, W. D. Boyce incorporated Boy Scouts of America the next year.
Then, starting in 1918 in the U.S., a number of experimental schemes operated for an organization called the Cub Scouts. They ran until 1930, when the first official Cub Scout packs were registered. Thus, Cub Scouting became part of the Boy
