How to find a successful composition

I always enjoy a visit to Scotney Castle (www.nationaltrust.org.uk/ scotney-castle), a National Trust property in Kent where the oldest part of the building dates back to the 14th century. I live near enough to go for a day’s sketching and painting as well as taking several photos.
