ARRAN IN LOCKDOWN

Last time, we left the rather sketchy life story of Arran Motors at the end of 1935. Its medium weight diesel powered lorries made in Welwyn Garden City had been introduced in the summer of 1934 and had enjoyed some limited success. However, competition was intense at the lighter end of the market, especially from nearby rival Commer, which had also adopted Perkins diesels and undercut Arran on price.

For the Commercial Motor Show in London at the end of 1935, Arran changed tack and introduced premium Gardner-powered vehicles. These included a 4LK equipped five tonner, a 4LW seven tonner and a 5LW six wheel thirteen tonner. No pictures
