EDITOR’S LETTER

ach year at our Design & Innovation Awards , we celebrate a single designer with a very special Lifetime Achievement and they’re just the yachts over 100 meters (330ft). But to all this, I’d like to add another, utterly extemporized award: the nicest guy in yachting. Despite all his success, Tim remains totally unaffected and commits himself year after year to helping us unearth new design talent with our Young Designer of the Year competition. Never seen without an impeccably tailored blazer, neatly trimmed mustache and an ever-present smile, he offers a peerless example to the young talent coming up through the ranks. One young designer following in his footsteps is Alberto Mancini, who penned this month’s cover star, Azimut’s biggest boat yet. Like Heywood before him, he’s redefining the way yachts work for their owners. See for yourself on page 78.
