No lack of respect
Of all the books I read at school, the one that brought me the greatest joy was Gerald. The tale of expat life on Corfu is hilarious and wildlife is at the heart of it. In one particularly amusing scene, the boys head off snipe shooting and end up waist-deep in water. Durrell went on to become a great zoologist and conservationist.
