TRAVELLING LIGHT

Every journey has an environmental footprint – even if just the energy needed to build a bicycle or produce a pair of trainers. But, when it comes to carbon dioxide emissions, some modes of transport are worse than others.

Taking a flight or driving solo are the worst offences, but how you fly and what you drive makes a difference. And there are other ways you can help, too. You could get there by foot or bike or use public transport. Or you could join one of the hundreds of community travel schemes around the country.

Realistically, we’re not all suddenly going to give up life in the fast lane, but there are easy ways to do your bit. Here’s some for starters…
