IF YOU thought there are only eight planets, think again. So far, scientists know of more than 4 700 exoplanets – planets outside of our solar system. These vary in size from equal to our own Mars, to several times the size of Jupiter. Some might even be inhabitable for humans.
WHAT IS AN EXOPLANET?
It’s a planet in another solar system, in other words it orbits a star that’s not our sun. By 1 July 2021 scientists have identified exoplanets. In our galaxyare similar to Earth. Another estimate is that there are just as many planet systems in the universe that can sustain life.
