The 2021 British GT year of the Team Abba Racing Mercedes piloted by father-and-son Richard and Sam Neary has been characterised by two things: promising pace and foul luck.At Donington Park’s round three it looked like that toxic combination would be present once again, as in second free practice the Mercedes’ right-front brake disc shattered.
The younger Neary, Sam, kept it out the barriers but the breakage still did sufficient damage to the car to ensure it sat out qualifying, meaning it started last of the 10 GT3 runners.
