Beat / In these difficult times, a very appropriate question: How are you?

Johann / I‘m doing quite well, at least in terms of health. Basically, I think the lockdown is right, so that we can support older and weak people. However, I feel cheated by the state, because the emergency aid is tied to strange conditions, often comes months later, and you don‘t know whether you‘ll have to pay it back. This, in conjunction with the fact that the order books are not getting fuller right now, creates financial bottlenecks for me. I also notice how I am becoming more and more socially stunted as I rarely see friends. So I am often alone with thoughts that I could otherwise quickly let go of in conversations. As a result, psychological health suffers. I also find it terrible that artists are being told that we have the wrong job and that we could reorient ourselves.

Beat / Did you make a living from music before?

Yes. The last three years have gone very well, so I was able to build up reserves for 2020. But now all my savings have been used up and the time has come that I often look around my studio and think about what I could do without in order to sell it. But
