Homebuilt Hero: Kieran Carpenter “Here’s my longterm Sapphire project — way longer than I had originally planned!” says Kieran. “After learning to drift in a Zetec-powered Sierra, I decided it was time to up the power and build my own drift car from pretty much the ground up.” “It will be running a SAAB B234 2.3 turbo engine, baffled sump, RS500 large intercooler, alloy radiator and twin fans. The engine bay will be smoothed and painted, and it will feature a flat rear floor, and solid beam mounts. I’ve also got plenty of parts not yet on the car such as the welded diff, roll cage, carbon fibre rear wing, Morette front lights and Mk3 Golf GTi front bumper.”
