For the avid reader of my waffle you may recall last month’s feature on the highly sought-after Drake Collectibles. I may have mentioned in that article that I am a huge fan and will be endeavouring to collect all the models my bank account will allow. That is the extent of my collecting abilities. I am limited by not just the fact my accountant doesn’t deem ‘toy trucks’ as a business expense but also the fact that I can only fit a certain number of display cabinets in my little house.

What would happen if that wasn’t the case, though? What would happen if I had a huge shed where I accumulate collectibles? Well, chances are I’d be exactly like Ron Newman and his son Stan.

Instead of having 1/50th scale replicas that my neighbours’ kids aren’t allowed within two metres of, I’d have 1/1 scale actual trucks that I would be kind enough to break out when over-excited Mack fans and part-time journalists like myself want to come and drool over them. Obviously, I don’t have that shed, but Ron and Stan do,
