Sebastian Junger’s prose has become as lean and muscular as his physique and piercing countenance. Freedom follows 2010’s War and 2016’s Tribe as the latest in a series of descriptive ruminations on brotherhood, battle and the trauma of re-entering civilian life after experiencing the gruesome horrors of combat in which survival is critically dependent upon the bonds between soldiers.
