REMEMBERING NANCY SALOMON
Crossword lovers have their own constellation of superstars, people like Will Shortz, editor of the New York Times puzzle, and Dan Feyer, who’s won the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament eight times.
But there are others in the “crossworld” whose quiet, behind-the-scenes contributions are no less influential. Nancy Salomon was undoubtedly among them.
Salomon, who died last May at the age of 74, mentored many budding cruciverbalists. Some, Wordplay blog, acknowledged that debt. “Personally, I owe my career to Nancy Salomon, who was incredibly patient with me as I learned the ropes,” she wrote.
