LOOKING INTO THE LIVES OF OTHERS: ‘TRACES’
‘A moment is a when a person’s life dwells with that of another and leaves a trace. It is also the moment when someone else’s life begins in the space. is a publication organised and produced by the visual designer Kang Joosung and consists of photos and essays documented by 12 artists. On the gallery wall, a photo series is hung, in which Chung Melmel (co-principal, texture on texture) took pictures of people who have had to take medication over a prolonged period. The artist calmly captures the images of people living with pain in black and white tones. Space design studio Post Standards (principal, Kim Minsoo)’s architectural drawing series also attracted the attention of visitors. Kim observed the lifestyle of his wife and dogs and designed a virtual house best suited for living with them. There were some books in the gallery so that visitors could learn more about the stories that had not been fully translated into space. The furniture designer Shim Seungyeon installed bookend modules and benches to allow visitors to read other people’s stories in relative comfort.
