AS A kid he dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player, maybe even making it all the way to the world cup. Then an injury put paid to those hopes and he hung up his boots – but that didn’t mean his world cup dreams were dashed.
Julio Bianchi just needed to switch things up a bit, that’s all. He turned to his next big love – online soccer.
And now this young man from Ravensmead in Cape Town has become the first South African e-sports player to qualify for the FIFAe World Cup and he’ll be winging his way to London where the tournament will kick off in August.
