WINNING LETTER

hristmas with my family has always been a festive affair. The whole family would congregate at my grandparents’ place for a week of affection, celebration, good food and crowded sleeping conditions. The Christmas table would be filled with in the April 2021 issue of TASTE (above), I knew exactly what I would give myself for my birthday this year: a hearty dose of nostalgia. The will take centre stage, backed up by the sauerkraut that always stood by its side on the farm table. My birthday lunch won’t be quite as opulent, because I’m not my granny and this isn’t Christmas, but there will be just enough to take me back to Christmas time on the farm where everybody knew they belonged.
