ROCK WINS EUROVISION
heads were turned at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest by Finnish nu metallers, beating out strong competition via more typically pop-oriented entries from France and Switzerland. Singer Damiano David’s proclamation that the victory was proof that “rock’n'roll never dies” may have been a bit much, but the band’s success did, at least, show that heavy music still has the capacity to surprise us on the world stage. Fair play, fellas.
