THE ANNOUNCEMENT read like this: Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Neal Schon to Auction off 110 of His 900-plus Guitars!

It’s called The Neal Schon Collection and it’s being presented to avid guitar collectors and memorabilia mavens by the one and only Heritage Auctions.

“These are important guitars I’ve been collecting for a very long time and it’s time to let go of some very special pieces to make room for new arrivals,” explains guitarist Neal Schon.

July 31 is the date, at www.ha.com.

There’s a lot of history behind these instruments. The black Gibson Les Paul that’s been heard on such stirring Journey favorites as “Open Arms,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Who’s Crying Now” and “Don’t album will also be auctioned off, as will the guitar he used as a 17-year-old kid in the studio with Santana.
