Trade Growth

Foreign trade maintained its upward momentum in the first five months of the year amid steady economic operation and external demand.

Total imports and exports expanded 28.2 percent year on year, up to 14.76 trillion yuan ($2.3 trillion) during the period, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) said on June 7.

It marked an increase of 21.6 percent from the same period in 2019, data from the GACC showed.

Trade surplus increased 56.2 percent year on year, reaching 1.32 trillion yuan ($206 billion).

Foreign trade of private enterprises improved 38.1 percent,
