Hairy HURST

Steve Christinzio’s 1973 Oldsmobile probably wouldn’t be here today if not for some far-sighted owners in its past.

“It started out in California,” said Christinzio, who’s owned the ’73 Cutlass with the Hurst/Olds package since 2013. “If you look at the (front license frame), that’s the dealership, Dick Browning from Long Beach. It came with the car. Then from there, I believe the original owner passed away and his nephew inherited it and it wound up in Oregon. I have pictures of it. Apparently, he took it to shows, but he took it on a trailer. I have pictures of that.

“Then it wound up in Virginia and that owner had it for 10 years. That’s who I bought it from.”

Its previous owners’ care for the Olds is impressive. Muscle cars were often driven into the ground and later muscle cars suffered from the additional curse of being perceived as somehow not the real thing. Owners who took care of them, Christinzio agreed, should be respected
