that's life!

Welcome!

There are many people in our lives that we can’t do without. Our partners, family and friends for a start. Then there are all the health and essential workers – loves to share news of Aussies doing good things for others. So we are thrilled to bring to you a new feature that salutes and celebrates our country’s magnificent volunteers. The team have relished putting their research skills to work, finding a whole host of ordinary people doing pretty extraordinary things in our community. We kick off this week with a delightful story (Page 16) about Cancer Council volunteer, Mel Dearmer. Mel’s hard work helping to raise much-needed funds also led to her finding the love of her life! We hope you will help us by nominating someone to share their story – or even put yourself forward. I’m conscious that volunteers are the last people who want to step into the spotlight, but just think about the publicity the charity or organisation for which you work will get by appearing in Australia’s number one real-life mag! We know for a fact that there are millions of you out there. So please do drop us a line at and tell us about yourself, or a volunteer you know and admire.
