“It’s all very well viewing this data in the console, but you probably want to make better use of it”
This month, I’m going to show you the final part of the LoRaWAN jigsaw: decoding the data that we uploaded to The Things Network (TTN) last month and then extracting that data to use in other systems. Oh, and thank you for the feedback on this mini-series so far – it’s always good to know that I’m not shouting into a bucket!
To jog your memory, last month we configured The Things Node and connected it to TTN via a LoRaWAN gateway. At the point where I left things, you’ll have seen an icon turn green in the TTN console, meaning that the TTN servers were seeing data from your node.
Let’s take a look at that data and see how we can put it to use.
Head over to the TTN console, click on Applications and select the application that you set up last month (mine is called “pc_pro_example”). In the Devices box, you should see it says “1 registered device” – just click on that. Now you’ll see the device that you registered (mine is “things_node_ pc_pro_example”), so go ahead and select it. You should now be on the Device Overview screen.
Just below the top navigation, you’ll see three tabs: Overview, Data and Settings. Click Data and you’ll see a number of entries listed. Alongside each one is the time that the data was received by the TTN gateway, a counter (which is an incremental
