    ‘A perfect story for our dark times’

    It’s a story of a working-class hero, a champion of humble beginnings in the South Wales Valleys becoming a national symbol. It’s a story of setbacks and comebacks, triumphs and disasters. It’s the story of a horse named Dream Alliance and the village syndicate that bred and backed him.

    It’s the sort of story that was always going to be a movie one day. Now there are two.

    The first was a documentary, which followed how his owners from a former mining village of Cefn Fforest took on the posh world of racing and won major trophies including the 2009 Welsh Grand National –
