What’s the first game you attended?

I think it was in the 1979-80 season: Bochum vs Braunschweig. My father worked in the steel industry – just like everyone back then – and had clients in Bochum, so I’d watch them quite regularly with his work colleagues. My first Germany game was when I was eight: an under-15 match against Holland in our local stadium. I’ve tried so hard to get a team-sheet from that game because I’ve got no idea who played in it – there may have been the cream of German and Dutch football, or maybe all of them went forgotten without turning professional.
