A European Cup winner with Ajax aged 22, Davids later bagged a trio of Serie A titles at Juventus in2003, while his tour of megaclubs – throw in Milan, Barcelona and Inter – guaranteed quite the CV. Stints at Tottenham and Championship Crystal Palace raised eyebrows, but the most jaw-dropping move was to come for Holland’s 74-cap hero: a player-manager role at his local side Barnet, bottom of League Two.
