Heading to my dance class, I couldn’t wait to perfect our new modern routine.

I’ve been dancing since I was two, and I enjoy nothing more than doing pirouettes, Pas De Bourrées and split leaps.

My dance teacher has always been fantastic and helped me secure roles in pantomimes and stage shows.

I trust her completely, so when she pulled me to one side when I was 12-years-old, I knew to take her seriously.

‘Macey, I’ve noticed a hump on your right rib,’ she told me with concern. ‘I think you should go to the hospital. It looks like scoliosis.’
