At the start of each academic year my child’s school hosts a picnic on their rugby field, and so, obeying COVID-19 regulations, every family spread their blankets two metres apart. Our daughter and the son of the couple next to us are good friends, even though they are a year apart, and so we had never really socialised until then.
But that’s what these school picnics are about: mingling with other parents. And so that’s exactly what we did.
