Great Wall Motor Co. – or GWM – is celebrating its 17th anniversary in South Africa this year. This private company is the largest manufacturer of bakkies and SUVs in China and is showing its mettle against state-owned vehicle manufacturers like BAIC and Chery. In fact, GWM was initially prohibited by the Chinese government from manufacturing sedans which is why they focussed on bakkies and SUVs in stead.
Nowadays, GWM is the eighth largest vehicle manufacturer
