“We love to socialise and enjoy the space with other people”

Entering our Gardens of the Year competition in 2020 turned out to be a life-changing experience for Joe and Laura Carey. During the time they were creating their striking terraced garden in Luton, Joe was Head of Design at a local secondary school and Laura had been working in design and marketing, but had taken time off after having a baby the year before. They say that their success in the competition is one of the reasons they decided to combine two of the things they love most – gardens and design – and start new careers; they both quit their jobs and set up their own garden design company.
