Coping with AN ENLARGED PROSTATE

The prostate gland lies between the penis and bladder and, if enlarged, places pressure on the bladder and urethra. The cause of BPE isn’t fully understood, but may be linked to hormonal changes as a man gets older. An enlarged prostate doesn’t mean a higher risk of developing prostate cancer.

BPE symptoms include difficulty starting to pee, straining, poor or stop/start flow, needing to pee urgently or frequently, including at night, and leaking urine (urinary incontinence). Incontinence happens if you get a sudden need to pee
