TO countless gardeners, and children everywhere, pumpkins provide endless fascination. These brightly coloured members of the cucumber family can grow to enormous (even grotesque) proportions. They break records, they are eaten, and they are grown and sold in their millions!
Then, of course, there are the squash and the gourds. The family is huge, and captivating. We are now coming towards the end of the period when they should be sown, so let’s take a closer look at these stalwarts of the veg garden, allotment and show bench!
