    ne thousand, four hundred and sixty days — one could complete a whole ton of road trips in that time. Being a teacher at a private school in Japan made it easy to take big chunks of time off. Most people in my situation would travel to nearby countries like South Korea and Taiwan, but I spent my time exploring the Land of the Rising Sun. Japan’s public transport is astounding. Planes, bullet trains, regular trains, metros, intercity buses, and cheap taxis — any normal Japanese person would use these quick and largely inexpensive options to travel around the country — but I’m not a normal Japanese person, am I?
